WINTER WEATHERIZATION

Saturday, October 24, 2015

8:00 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. Start Time

Volunteers are needed to weatherize the homes of elderly, disabled, and low-income individuals throughout Story County. On Saturday, October 24th, the Story County Coalition for Energy Efficiency (SCCEE) is sponsoring the 9th annual Winter Weatherization Challenge. Volunteers will install plastic on windows, door sweeps, weather stripping around doors and windows, and more.

Volunteers form teams of four to six members and sign up for either the 8:00 or 9:30 kick-off time. We will launch from the Collegiate Wesleyan Annex at 130 S Sheldon Ave Ames, Iowa (behind Dunkin Donuts). This is a great opportunity for businesses, organizations, service clubs, faith groups, student groups, and friends to learn more about their community and give back. Each team should designate a team captain who will be responsible for relaying information to the rest of the team and attending a short training session prior to the event. Teams must be able to drive their own car to the weatherization sites, some of which are outside Ames. Any group going beyond Ames will receive a gas card to help cover the expense. Lunch will be provided, along with a snack before hitting the road.
