Becca Mills, Anya Robson, Julie Boyer and Monica Elmore, Students in Action members, spread mulch at Ledges State Park for an 11 Days of Global Unity volunteer project Sept. 17. The next Students in Action meeting will be Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Volunteer Center. All high school and college students welcome.

Winter Weatherization Challenge
On Nov. 1, teams of volunteers in groups of 4-5 will weatherize the homes of 50 low income, elderly and disabled persons in Story County. Grab your co-workers, classmates, fraternities or sororities, family or friends and form a team. No experience is necessary, it will just be putting plastic over windows, installing doorsweeps, etc. Download a volunteer application and description.
Candidate Forum on the Conditions of
Poverty in Story County
Candidates running for elected position in Story County will participate in a candidate forum on the topic of poverty. The forum, sponsored by the Volunteer Center and MICA, will be held on October 16 at 7 p.m. at the Ames City Auditorium.
